Car Owner’s Manual

Firstly, it is recommended to keep the car owner’s manual in the glove box compartment, which ensures you know you always have it handy. Your manual contains all the information you should know about your specific vehicle. Information includes the maintenance needed for your car and troubleshooting advice that may be useful to you.

Spare Tyre/Tyre Repair Kit

When setting off on any car journey, you should check your tyres over to ensure they have the right amount of air, and the correct measurement of tread depth (1.6mm). However, if you find yourself in a situation where you’ve punctured your tyre, having a tyre repair kit may save you a lot of time compared to waiting around for a tow truck. If you are unsure how to use the repair kit or change the tyre, you may find someone close by who knows how to do it. It’s always beneficial to keep the repair kit on hand, and a spare tyre (if you have one).

Jump Cables

A flat battery is a worst-case scenario for all drivers, whether you’re a new or an experienced driver. A dead battery can be due to human error by leaving your ignition running for too long without the engine switched on, extreme temperatures, or an old battery. Having jump-start cables will mean you are one step closer to fixing your problem. Providing there is someone close by to you with a running engine that can help – you’ll be on your way in no time!

Windscreen Wash

While driving, it is crucial to have complete visibility on your windscreen. If your windscreen view is hindered, this might put you and other drivers around you in danger. Having a spare bottle of windscreen wash in your car at all times will save you if you’re driving and suddenly find you have run out. Many factors can affect the view of your windscreen, for example, environmental impacts such as dirt, dust, smoke, or smog. Having the bottle of windscreen wash in your car will ensure you never have to worry about a compromised windscreen, in terms of visibility due to cleanliness.

WD-40

The uses for WD-40 are extensive and should be a staple in your car’s essentials kit. WD-40 has many uses, such as cleaning bugs off your windscreen, restoring your number plates, and removing dirt/grease and grime. Although not many people would think to keep WD-40 in a vehicle, its many uses are proof of why it should take a space in your car.

First Aid Kit

You never know what will happen while you’re out on the road. However, a first aid kit could potentially save your life. Although it may not protect you from major accidents, if you’re driving on a long road with poor signal, the first aid kit may be sufficient until you can get to a better-connected location. You will find primary supplies such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, medicines, and painkillers in the kit.

We hope this guide provided you with the information you need on the essentials to have in your car. When purchasing a vehicle, if you would like any advice on the essential items to keep inside the vehicle, please ask our team!
